Today, during the opening keynote at Final Fantasy XIV’s Fan Fest, Microsoft Xbox’s Phil Spencer took to the stage. In a surprise announcement, Naoki Yoshida and Phil Spencer confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV is finally heading to Xbox consoles. This is big news for Xbox fans as it shows there could be a future for Final Fantasy on Xbox consoles. Even Spencer himself said that this was a “seminal moment with” Yoshida and the Final Fantasy team.
Final Fantasy XIV will be heading to the Xbox Series X|S, with 4K support on Xbox Series X. An open beta is scheduled for Patch 6.5x and the game is aiming to be available on Xbox sometime in spring 2024. It will however, be a digital-only release.
