Steam’s most-wishlisted game finally has a release date. A couple of days ago, on August 19, Team Cherry confirmed it would make a special announcement for Hollow Knight: Silksong, and it was indeed special. In a trailer just shy of two minutes, the developer confirmed the long-awaited sequel finally arrives on September 4, 2025. It’s an action-packed trailer too, showcasing plenty of gameplay, levels, enemies, and bosses. The only thing that really could have made fans more excited was a shadow drop today. Let’s face it, though, after more than six years, two weeks is hardly anything.

The original Hollow Knight, released in 2017, remains one of the best-feeling 2D action platformers ever. Anyone who has played the game understands why it has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” user rating on Steam, with over 136,000 English reviews (now that Steam separates reviews by language).

Hollow Knight: Silksong heads to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, Switch 2, and PC on September 4, 2025, and will also be available on Game Pass at launch.
