At long last, Hitman World of Assassination is getting cross-progression on February 3, 2026. This will allow players to carry on their in-game progression across any device, whether it’s going from console to PC or moving to a new platform. Players will have to enable cross-progression, which will store their save online and link it to their IOI account. The system uses a Primary Account model, which means when players link platforms to their IOI Account, they’ll have to choose one platform profile to be their primary progression profile. All other linked platforms will follow that profile.
Cross-progression will share experience, player level, challenges, location mastery, unlocks and inventory, achievements and trophies, Freelancer mode progression, and campaign story progress. While this may seem obvious, IO Interactive is making it clear that the game license, the DLC license, and DLC-based unlocks are not shared across platforms. Just because you own the game on PC doesn’t mean you can play it on console.
When enabling cross-progression, players should be aware that older save games created on a non-primary linked account will not be loadable while cross-progression is active. Also, if players want to use older saves from their non-primary linked accounts, they can disable cross-progression at any time.
As a result of this new feature, IO Interactive is retiring the Hitman 2 to Hitman 3 carryover system, which was introduced in 2021. So if you want to carry over your progress, you’ll need to do so before February 3, 2026. IO Interactive says this is to guarantee data integrity and prevent conflicts between legacy and progression systems with the new unified World of Assassination progression.
