This morning, Nintendo’s highly anticipated Switch 2 Direct revealed the new console’s June 5 release date and its price, $449.99. Preorders from participating retailers won’t start until April 9, but for those who want to increase their odds of getting a Switch 2, they should register their interest at the official My Nintendo Store today. Users will have to choose between the base console for $449.99 and the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle for $499.99. Once a selection has been made, it can’t be changed, so make sure you choose the one you want.
Initial Switch 2 orders at My Nintendo Store aren’t open to everyone though. To help prevent scalpers from purchasing multiple units, the orders are only open to Nintendo Account holders in the U.S. and Canada, 18 years and older, and will be prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis to registrants based on the following requirements: As of April 2, 2025, you must have purchased any Nintendo Switch Online membership, must have had any paid Nintendo Switch Online membership for a minimum of 12 months, and must have opted in to share gameplay data and have at least 50 total gameplay hours. The first batch of invitations will be sent out starting on May 8, with additional batches sent periodically until purchasing is opened to everyone. The initial invitation emails will be sent to those eligible registrants who meet the priority criteria, and they’ll have 72 hours to complete their purchase from the time the email is sent.
The invitations will not be transferable and will be sent to the email address associated with the Nintendo Account registered on the website. Optional accessories will be available to purchase at the same time, likely the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera and the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. Users will be limited to purchasing one system and one of each accessory during the invitation period.
Even if you don’t meet the priority requirements, it’s still worth registering since it only takes a few seconds of your time.
