After one of the best years in gaming history, 2024 was expected to be a bit slower in terms of announcements and releases. Unfortunately, the gaming industry has taken a major hit this year with thousands of layoffs and multiple studio closures. Nonetheless, the show must go on, and with E3 officially dead, it’s Summer Game Fest taking center stage. Prior to the show, Geoff Keighley tempered expectations and for good reason. The show mostly lacked major debuts or announcements from established franchises, but there are many fresh new faces to look forward to. Overall, it’s one of the weaker shows we’ve seen, but it wasn’t as boring as the internet might want you to think.
