Hearthstone‘s next expansion, Whispers of the Old Gods, has been officially announced. In total, the expansion will add 134 new cards to the game including four Legendary Old Gods cards: C’thun, Yogg-Saron, Y’Shaarj and N’Zoth. The first of the Old Gods revealed today is C’thun, a legendary 10-mana cost 6/6 minion that reads “Battlecry: Deal damage equal to this minion’s Attack randomly split among all enemies.”
What makes C’thun unique is that there will be cards accompanying it that will grant C’thun additional power whether the Old God is still in your deck, your hand or on the playing field. For example, Beckoner of Evil is a two-mana cost 2/3 minion with “Battlecry: Give your C’thun +2/+2 (wherever it is).” Blizzard also revealed the three-mana cost Twilight Elder as a 3/4 minion with “At the end of your turn, give your C’thun +1/+1 (wherever it is).” As you can imagine, C’thun’s Battlecry could get quite powerful… that is until Big Game Hunter puts the beast in his sights.

Starting March 14, Blizzard will allow players to pre-purchase a 50-pack bundle of Whispers of the Old Gods card packs for $49.99 prior to the expansion’s official release. Like The Grand Tournament before, those that pre-purchase will get a fancy new card back as a bonus. And yes, you will get access to the card back ahead of the expansion’s release so every player you challenge knows you’re ready for the Old Gods.
Unfortunately unlike The League of Explorers Adventure, Blizzard doesn’t have a firm release date but says it should reach Hearthstone by late April or early May. As usual, you can expect more cards to be revealed leading up to the expansion’s release.
