The second Hearthstone adventure, Blackrock Mountain, was announced earlier this month and will be going live sometime in April. Blizzard has been slowly releasing some of the new cards that will be part of the Adventure and earlier today, a couple more made an appearance on Hearthstone‘s Facebook page. So FullCleared.com has decided to take a look at the nine cards that Blizzard has shown off so far to get an idea of what to expect when the full 31 cards is released.
Here are two new minions that are being added as part of the Blackrock Mountain adventure, a three-cost 2/4 Blackwing Technician with Battlecry: If you’re holding a Dragon, gain +1/ +1 and the five-cost 3/3 Grim Patron that reads “Whenever this minion survives damage, summon another Grim Patron.” The Blackwing Technician will likely be included in any dragon-centric deck while the Grim Patron will be an interesting card given its high cost but poor stats for a five drop. It does however introduce an interesting mechanic and could be a formidable card when combo’ed with Priest spells such as Power Word: Shield.
One of the new dragons that Blizzard has shown off so far is the Hungry Dragon, a four cost 5/6 with Battlecry: Summon a random 1-Cost minion for your opponent. It’s a real strong four drop that could take the spot of the Chillwind Yeti or Mechanical Yeti, especially if the player has removal in hand to take care of the 1-cost minion that spawns. Another five-cost minion being added as part of the Blackrock Mountain adventure is the 4/3 Dark Iron Skulker with Battlecry: Deal 2 damage to all undamaged enemy minions. In a way it’s like an explosive sheep that only impacts your opponent’s board but could have interesting combos when used with other minions or spells.

One of the new Legendary cards is Rend Blackhand, a seven cost 8/4 with Battlecry: If you’re holding a Dragon, destroy a Legendary minion. Again, the card plays off the addition of Dragons in the new adventure and while its fourth health is open to a lot of removal spells, its Battlecry more than makes up for it. Then there’s the four cost 2/5 Axe Flinger that reads “Whenever this minion takes damage, deal 2 damage to the enemy hero.” It’s a Warrior only card and its five health will make it stick, especially as a four drop.
One of the new Shaman spells is Lava Shock, which deals 2 damage and unlocks the Shaman’s Overloaded mana crystals at the cost of two mana. Then there’s the interesting one drop 0/2 Dragon Egg that reads “Whenever this minion takes damage, summon a 2/1 Whelp.” Expect to see this in aggro decks or zoo-like decks.
Lastly there’s the four cost 3/5 Dragonkin Sorcerer that reads “Whenever you target this minion with a spell, gain +1/+1.” It’s not hard to imagine the possibilities with the Dragonkin Sorcerer along with Priest or Druid buffs.
Expect Blizzard to release more cards as part of the Blackrock Mountain adventure in the coming weeks and we’ll be sure to post them up as they come.
