One of our most anticipated games of 2024 has entered Early Access after a short period of testing. As promised, everyone can now check out Hades II on Steam or the Epic Games Store. According to the game’s FAQ page, there is no release date set for Hades II v1.0, but the developer does expect that the game will be in Early Access at least through the end of this year. Eventually, the game will be available on PC, Mac, and console platforms, although Supergiant Games cannot confirm which platforms just yet.
The Early Access price is $29.99 USD and the price may go up at a later point. Of course, those who purchase it during Early Access will not have to worry about any price increases leading up to its official launch. Although in Early Access, the game already has as much content as the original game did at this stage. Expect major updates that add to the game’s core content and refine what already exists based on player feedback. The story will also be expanded with each update, with more characters and events being introduced.
Hades II is a direct sequel to the original Hades and is set in and around the Underworld of Greek myth after the events of the original game. However, you won’t need to know anything about Hades or Greek myth to enjoy Hades II. Naturally, there are some nods to the original, as there are some connections.
In Hades II, players take on the role of Melinoë, the Princess of the Underworld. She is an immortal witch and sorceress, armed with magical abilities and skilled with a variety of weapons. She is the sister of Zagreus from the original game, and is based on an ancient Underworld deity thought to be related to Hades.
The company confirmed that Hades II has been in development since the start of 2021 and currently there are no plans for multiplayer. You can learn more about Hades II by reading the FAQ here. Or, stop reading this, buy the game, and get lost in it for hundreds of hours, like we plan to.
