For millions of gamers, Grand Theft Auto VI might be their most anticipated game ever. Originally set to launch in fall 2025, Rockstar Games recently delayed the ambitious title to May 26, 2026. But to keep everyone on board the hype train, the developer has released the second trailer for the game, which focuses on the characters and gives us another look at Vice City. Along with the trailer, the game’s official website has been updated with new info on the game.
For GTA VI, players will be returning to Vice City to experience the story of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. When an easy score goes wrong, both find themselves in the middle of a criminal conspiracy that stretches across the state of Leonida. Providing a bit of background for each character, Duval grew up around grifters and crooks, and after a stint in the Army, he found himself doing what he knows best: working for local drug runners. As for Lucia, her father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk, and it’s fighting for her family that got her a stay in the Leonida Penitentiary.
We also meet Cal Hampton, Jason’s friend who spends his time snooping on Coast Guard comms. There’s also Boobie Ike, a local Vice City legend. Ike has managed to transform his time in the streets into a legitimate empire with real estate, a strip club, and a recording studio. Right now, Ike is most invested in his partnership with the young aspiring musician Dre’Quan Priest for Only Raw Records. Dre’Quan’s goal was always to break into music even when he was dealing on the streets to make ends meet. He’s recently signed the Real Dimez to his label, two girls—Bae-Luxe and Roxy—with viral videos and viral hooks.

The final two characters revealed today were Raul Bautista and Brian Heder. Bautista is a seasoned bank robber who is always on the hunt for new talent, and his recklessness raises the stakes with every score. Meanwhile, Heder is a classic drug runner who is moving product through his boat yard with his third wife, Lori. He’s been letting Jason live rent-free at one of his properties, so long as Jason helps with local shakedowns.
Along with the new characters, we also got some details on some of the areas in Leonida. There is, of course, Vice City, which is heavily inspired by Miami, Florida. Then there are the Leonida Keys, featuring some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in all of America. Players will also be taking a trip to the wetlands in the Grassrivers, where gators live along with other deadly predators among the mangroves. Port Gellhorn is Leonida’s forgotten coast, now full of cheap motels and shut-down attractions. This area is fueled by malt liquor, painkillers, and truck stop energy drinks. At the heart of Leonida is Ambrosia, where the Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides the jobs and the local biker gang provides nearly everything else. Lastly is Mount Kalaga National Park, providing a contrast to the bustling area of Vice City. Mount Kalaga offers prime hunting, fishing, and off-road trails, joined by hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals. Anyone who has lived in Florida will likely be able to identify which real-world locations inspired each of these areas.
As for the trailer, it’s little surprise that visually, GTA VI looks stunning. Rockstar Games typically uses in-engine footage for its game trailers, and considering how good Red Dead Redemption 2 still looks today, it’s no surprise the wizards at Rockstar have something magical being conjured up for GTA VI. The unfortunate part is that we’ll have to wait over a year to get our hands on it, assuming it doesn’t get delayed again.
