Week one of Grand Theft Auto V sales were record breaking, with the game selling over 17.5-million copies, making it the biggest opening week in gaming history. After generating $1 billion in revenue in just three days of availability, Grand Theft Auto V continued to sell well for the rest of its opening week. 

8.88-million units were sold to Xbox 360 gamers while 8.64-million units went to PlayStation 3 owners. Grand Theft Auto V was released in North America and Europe on September 7, 2013 for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Rockstar Games recently announced details on Grand Theft Auto Online, which included the confirmation that microtransactions would exist for the online component of Grand Theft Auto V.
