When Grand Theft Auto VI launches this fall, it will only be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, leaving PC gamers without access to one of the most anticipated games of the year. To soften that blow, Grand Theft Auto V on PC is getting an update on March 4 that will add features previously only available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of GTA Online. This includes all the latest vehicles and performance upgrades, animal encounters, and the ability to purchase a GTA+ Membership. The update will also include improved graphics options, faster loading times, kernel-based anti-cheat protections, and proactive voice chat moderation features. All players will receive the upgrade for free and they’ll have the ability to migrate their Story Mode and Online progress.
With the upgrade, car enthusiasts will find Hao’s Special Works auto shop inside the LS Car Meet. There, they will discover best-in-class vehicle upgrades along with five vehicles that were previously only available on consoles: Coil Cyclone II (Super), Imponte Arbiter GT (Muscle), Karin S95 (Sports), Pegassi Weaponized Ignus (Super), and Pfister Astron Custom (SUV). Hao will also tune a selection of premium vehicles for elite driving performance and players will be able to put them to the test with a weekly rotation of Hao’s Special Works Time Trials and Premium Test Rides and in HSW Races.
For those interested in GTA Online’s premium membership service, GTA+, it will offer a wealth of special benefits, including GTA$500,000 each month (delivered upon billing) and Member-only Shark Cards with 15 percent bonus GTA$. The membership includes a constantly changing suite of GTA Online benefits, which feature gameplay incentives, special vehicle customizations, and in-game apparel options. Members also gain access to special amenities at The Vinewood Club, such as free-to-claim vehicles, a Vinewood Club App to easily request vehicles, claim all outstanding business safe earnings, replenish ammo, and more.
Regarding those performance upgrades, PC users can look forward to support for AMD FSR1, FSR3, and NVIDIA DLSS 3. Ray tracing features such as ambient occlusion and global illumination will be added, along with ray traced shadows and reflections, which first debuted on consoles. Loading times will be faster for users with SSDs and DirectStorage, while those who prefer to play with a controller now have DualSense support with adaptive triggers. Visually, Grand Theft Auto V will support higher resolutions, higher aspect ratios, and higher frame rates, while the audio receives an upgrade with support for Dolby Atmos and improved fidelity of speech, cinematics, and music.
As a result of these changes, you can find the updated PC recommended specifications below. Don’t worry if you don’t meet the requirements, because Rockstar Games will continue supporting the previous version of Grand Theft Auto V when the upgrade goes live. However, it’s worth noting that the original version of GTA Online will be a separate instance, so players who remain on that version won’t be able to play with those who have upgraded.
