On March 26 at 10:00 PM Pacific (March 27 at 1:00 AM Eastern), Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.57 will go live, adding three new cars, an Extra Menu, new events, the Faroe Islands Scapes, and GT Sophy 2.1, the game’s next-generation racing AI agent. Starting with the most exciting of the new additions, the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage is joining the game’s lineup. Some consider it the best Aston Martin ever—somehow ignoring the Valkyrie—thanks to its relatively lightweight design. Although it shares its platform with the Aston Martin DB11 V8, the Vantage body has a shorter wheelbase and is about 265 pounds lighter. Under the hood is a 4.0-liter V8 engine sourced from Mercedes-AMG, generating 502 bhp, which is good enough for a zero-to-62 mph time of 3.7 seconds.
As a complete opposite to the Vantage is the 2021 Mazda CX-30 X Smart Edition, an everyday crossover for the everyday family. It’s not a terribly exciting car for Gran Turismo 7, but there’s probably someone who is a fan of it somewhere. The third vehicle is a bit more obscure, especially for North American players. It’s the 2001 Renault Kangoo 1.4, a leisure activity vehicle that started its life as a commercial van. With a 1.4-liter engine producing 73 bhp, it’s not going to be terribly exciting to race virtually.
The new Extra Menu is No. 45: Suzuki, available to Collector Level 35 and above. As for the new events, they will be added to World Circuits and consist of Sunday Cup: Brands Hatch Indy Circuit, European Clubman Cup 600: Deep Forest Raceway Reverse, and Japanese FF Challenge 450: Tokyo Expressway – Central Counterclockwise.
Polyphony Digital has also upgraded its racing AI agent, Gran Turismo Sophy. Now GT Sophy 2.1, it’s available in Custom Race and can be selected as the rival AI on all GT Sophy supported tracks and layouts in World Circuits.
