One of the most highly anticipated games of the year now has a release date. Ghost of Yōtei launches on October 2, 2025, for PlayStation 5 as a follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima, though the stories of the two games are unrelated. The protagonist in Ghost of Yōtei is Atsu, and the adventure starts when a gang of outlaws known as the Yōtei Six kills her family and leaves her for dead. Sixteen years later, Atsu is on a quest for vengeance, returning to her home of Ezo with a list of six names: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito.

As she explores Ezo, Atsu will encounter unlikely allies, creating connections to help give her another sense of purpose beyond just vengeance. Unsurprisingly, the region of Ezo—Hokkaido in the present day—looks stunning in what we’ve seen so far. The team at Sucker Punch also teased Atsu’s new weapons, a few of her allies, and a new gameplay mechanic that lets players look into her past. Sucker Punch also mentioned that they want players to have the freedom to explore Ezo however they choose. For example, they’ll be able to choose which Yōtei Six member they want to hunt down, or they can track other targets, claim bounties, or learn new skills from a weapon sensei. Atsu will also have the ability to build a campfire anywhere in the open world.

With the announcement of the game’s release date, PlayStation confirmed preorders for Ghost of Yōtei will be available starting May 2 at 7:00 AM Pacific (10:00 AM Eastern) in the U.S. Preordering any edition of the game grants a unique in-game mask, along with seven PSN avatars. The avatars are accessible immediately for preorders on the PlayStation Store. The standard game will be priced at $69.99 USD (£69.99 / €79.99 / ¥8,980).

A Digital Deluxe Edition is available for $10 more and includes The Snake’s armor set, an alternate dye for the starting armor, a unique horse color, unique saddle dye, an in-game charm, a gold Sword Kit, and an early unlock of Traveler’s Maps.

For the superfans, the Collector’s Edition currently has no price tag—possibly because of the Trump Administration’s RNG tariffs. The Collector’s Edition includes preorder bonuses, all in-game items from the Digital Deluxe Edition, a digital copy of the game, and a replica display edition of Atsu’s Ghost mask. The mask is built to scale with Jin’s mask from the Ghost of Tsushima Collector’s Edition, measuring 6.8 inches by 5 inches by 5.9 inches. Along with the mask is a replica of Atsu’s sash, measuring 71 inches long and featuring the names of the Yōtei Six.

There’s also a replica of the Tsuba from Atsu’s katana with a display stand, measuring roughly 3 by 3 inches. If all those items weren’t impressive enough, you’ll get a pouch of coins and instructions for Zeni Hajiki, a minigame playable throughout Ghost of Yōtei. As icing on the cake, the Collector’s Edition also includes a foldable papercraft ginkgo tree with a wolf at its base and a set of four 5-by-7-inch art cards depicting the sash, the wolf, Atsu’s Ghost mask, and the game’s key art.
