Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Yōtei, which launched on October 2, 2025, and has sold over three million units, is getting a major free patch next week on November 24. The biggest feature coming in the patch is a New Game Plus mode, so players can do another playthrough with everything they earned during their first campaign. The option unlocks after finishing the main story, and it’ll be accompanied by new harder difficulty options and two new Trophies. The update also adds a new currency called Ghost Flowers, which players can exchange for more than 30 new cosmetics (armor sets and weapon dyes) and 10 new charms. To help balance the harder difficulty options, there will also be an additional tier of upgrades for existing armor sets and weapons.

If you’re not interested in New Game Plus, the base game gets a few enhancements as well. The patch introduces the ability to replay content in the post-game after completing the main story, along with a new stats display. New accessibility options include directional button remapping, while Photo Mode gets shutter speed, a composition grid, and new filters.

While I did enjoy my time with Ghost of Yōtei, I was a bit disappointed by how familiar everything about the game felt compared to Ghost of Tsushima. As I mentioned in my review, it’s a visually jaw-dropping adventure with a vast sense of freedom, but it’s ultimately a flawed game with few surprises.
