With Dune: Part Two finally arriving in theaters recently, it’s no surprise that game developers with projects set in the Dune universe are sharing new details. The latest comes from Funcom, which is working on Dune: Awakening. The developers behind Anarchy Online, Age of Conan, and Conan Exiles have plenty of experience creating MMORPGs and open-world survival games, so Dune: Awakening looks very promising. Today’s trailers were part of Dune Direct, a digital showcase that lasted almost 25 minutes.
The highlight was the reveal of a new trailer, “Survive Arrakis.” Dune: Awakening is powered by Unreal Engine 5, and it shows, as the game looks visually impressive. The other video Funcom shared goes in depth on how it’s taking the Dune world from book to movie to game, and features interviews with developers on how they are bringing Arrakis to life in Dune: Awakening.
Currently, Dune: Awakening has no release date, but given the recent success of other crafting survival games like Palworld and Enshrouded, Funcom could potentially have a massive hit on its hands if Dune: Awakening is done correctly.
