Gears of War Ultimate Edition will be heading to the Xbox One on August 25, 2015, Microsoft announced during its E3 2015 press conference. The remastered version of the original Gears of War title will feature Dolby 7.1 Surround sound, 60 frames per second and 90 minutes of new campaign content from the original PC game. Other new features heading to the Gears of War Ultimate Edition include a concept art gallery and unlockable comics, modernized multiplayer with dedicated servers and skill-based matchmaking, a total of 19 maps including all DLC and previously PC-exclusive maps, 17 unlockable Gears of War 3 characters for Multiplayer progression and revamped controls for the Xbox One console.
Those that can’t wait until August 25 to check out the remastered version of Gears of War can join in on a one-week public beta for the game’s multiplayer that is already underway.
Gears of War was originally released for the Xbox 360 console on November 7, 2006 and was followed up by Gears of War 2 in 2008 and Gears of War 3 in 2011. It’s unclear whether Coalition plans to release remastered versions of Gears of War 2 and Gears of War 3.
