Gamescom has just announced on its official website the Gamescom 2013 Awards, with Titanfall and Destiny receiving plenty of accolades at this year’s show. Destiny, an upcoming title by Bungie, received awards in the following categories: Best Console Game Sony PlayStation, Best Action Game, and Best Online Multiplayer Game. As for Titanfall, a first-person shooter featuring mechs that is heading to the Xbox One and PC, it received awards for Best Console Game Microsoft Xbox and Best Next Generation Console Game.
Mario Kart 8 also get a pair of awards for Best Family Game and Best Console Game Nintendo Wii while The Elders Scrolls Online was another of the show’s favorites, taking home Best Role Playing Game, and Best Social/Casual/Online Game. The title for Best Racing Game went to Forza Motorsport 5 while the Best Sports Game went to FIFA 14, no surprise there considering Gamescom is in Germany. Best Mobile Game was The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, which is heading to the Nintendo 3DS, while Best PC Game was Battlefield 4. Lastly, Best Simulation Game went to WarThunder.
As for the next-generation console wars, the title of Best Hardware including Peripheral went to the Sony PlayStation 4, granting Sony some bragging rights against Microsoft’s Xbox One.
