With Nintendo dominating today’s headlines with the Switch 2, we want to remind you that Xbox is still around. The first wave of titles heading to Game Pass for April 2025 has been announced, starting with Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition on April 3 on Cloud, Console, and PC for Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard subscribers. We were disappointed by Borderlands 3, especially its writing and main cast of characters, but it’s worth checking out if you’re a fan of looter shooters since the gameplay is still fun. Plus, it’ll prepare you for Borderlands 4, which launches on September 23, 2025.
Three additional titles are joining the Game Pass Standard lineup on April 3: All You Need is Help (Console), Still Wakes the Deep (Xbox Series X|S), and Wargroove 2 (Console). All You Need is Help is a multiplayer co-op puzzle game, where players must collaborate using fluffy cube-shaped creatures to reach their goals. From developer The Chinese Room comes Still Wakes the Deep, a psychological horror game where players find themselves trapped on an oil rig in the North Sea. Meanwhile, Wargroove 2 is a tactics game, and it’s a fun one at that.
On April 8, Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition heads to Console and PC for Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard subscribers. This version contains both Diablo III and the Reaper of Souls expansion. If you somehow weren’t one of the millions who played Diablo III, now’s your chance to give it a try on Game Pass.
Arguably, the biggest highlight for the first wave of titles is South of Midnight on Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S. It’s a day one release with Game Pass on April 8 for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members. From Compulsion Games, this action-adventure explores the mythos and mysterious creatures of the American Deep South, as players take on the role of Hazel. What we’ve seen so far looks interesting, and we’re hoping to find the time to play through it when it launches.
A day later on April 9 is Commandos: Origins on Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S. It’s another day one release with Game Pass, as long as you’re a Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscriber. The game revisits the six iconic commandos from the original series with stealth-tactics gameplay and two-player co-op.
The third and final day one release with Game Pass for the first half of April is Blue Prince on April 10. It’ll be available on Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. Blue Prince is an atmospheric adventure where players explore an ever-changing manor with 45 shifting rooms. Players decide what room appears behind each door, shaping their path as they navigate through the manor.
The final title for the first wave of April 2025 is Hunt: Showdown 1896 on PC for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. This 2019 title is an unforgiving extraction shooter set in the corrupted backwaters lost to history.
Xbox also announced the following titles will be leaving Game Pass on April 15:
- Botany Manor
- Coral Island
- Harold Halibut
- Homestead Arcana
- Kona
- Orcs Must Die! 3
- Turbo Golf Racing
