With six mainline titles in the series, Far Cry is one of Ubisoft’s more prominent franchises, and it’s about to get even more famous. Far Cry has announced on its official social media channels that a new Far Cry anthology series is heading to Hulu, featuring a whole new setting, new cast, and the exact level of chaos your therapist told you to avoid. While it has been over four years since Far Cry 6 released, it sure sounds like Ubisoft has another entry in development. We wouldn’t be surprised if the next game’s release coincides with the FX series.
According to a Variety report, the series adaptation will come from Noah Hawley and Rob Mac. Rob Mac will also star in the series, and it will stream on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally. Like the games, it’ll follow an anthology format, meaning a different cast and setting each season, assuming it gets more than one season. Hawley is best known for creating Fargo, as well as the recent sci-fi series Alien: Earth. Personally, I think his best work was in the Marvel series Legion.
Far Cry isn’t the only Ubisoft franchise getting an adaptation. In July, Netflix finally decided to move forward with its Assassin’s Creed series, with Robert Patino and David Wiener serving as creators, showrunners, and executive producers. Hopefully these series manage to continue the trend of good video game adaptations. Recently, we’ve had HBO’s The Last of Us, the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and the wonderful Arcane, to name a few.
