FTL: Advanced Edition has been officially announced as a free expansion that will add new weapons, drones, augments, systems enemies and more to the popular Faster Than Light game. Though FTL: Advanced Edition won’t be released until early next year, developer Subset Games gave some details on a few of the additions heading its way.
Those features include a Mind Control System, which will temporarily turn enemies into allies. In addition, a new hacking system will be introduced in FTL: Advanced Edition that will allow players to lockdown and disrupt enemy systems. Other additions include a new sector, events, new weapons and effects and more. And for those Faster Than Light purists out there, don’t worry, you can disable all of the FTL: Advanced Edition features within the hangar before starting a new game.
Minor polishing features will also be added to FTL: Advanced Edition including the ability to save your crew positions and send them back to battle stations, save and quit during combat and find more items for purchase in stores.
The team also announced that FTL: Advanced Edition will be heading to the iPad with a redesigned interface built to be touch friendly. As for an Android variant, Subset Games is still looking into it but won’t make any promises at the time. The iPad version of FTL: Advanced Edition will work on both the full-size iPads (second generation or later) and the iPad Minis.
