We are officially less than three months away from the release of Final Fantasy XVI and the development team has been slowly sharing more and more details about the upcoming RPG. At PAX East 2023, Producer Naoki Yoshida and localization director Michael-Christopher “Koji” Fox hosted a panel titled “Yes, You Can Pet the Torgal.” The panel was about an hour long and started by introducing the development team of Final Fantasy XVI, before giving an overview of the game itself — including a focus on all the different characters and regions. Finally, Yoshida and Koji answered various questions about the game.
There’s quite a bit packed into the one-hour panel and if you want to go into the game completely blind, you may want to avoid the entire video that is below. But, if you desire to learn more about Final Fantasy XVI, you’ll see glimpses of combat and hear more about the characters and the world of Valisthea by watching the panel. If you’re like me and have been playing Final Fantasy XIV all these years, some of these environments in Final Fantasy XVI might look familiar. Not in the sense that they’re ripped straight out of Eorzea, but rather the game clearly comes from the same team.
Final Fantasy XVI releases June 22, exclusively on the PlayStation 5 — at least for launch.
You can see the latest trailer embedded in the tweet below, followed by the panel from PAX East 2023.
