Development of Final Fantasy XV is now at the point where the game is playable from start to finish, said programmer Satoshi Kitade on the official Final Fantasy XV forums. The programmer said that the game has finished pre-beta, meaning the first half of the game is also finished with the quality of a final product.

“We’re at the point where we can play the game in its entirety from start to finish,” Kitade said. “From this, everyone on the development team can get an overall view on the game.”

That means from now until the game’s inevitable release, the team will be polishing and making adjustments to gameplay in order to prepare the game and all its contents for release.

In development for what seems like forever, Final Fantasy XV was first introduced to the world as Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Square Enix has confirmed that the game will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime next year, with the release date being announced at a special event in March 2016.

Those that purchased the Day One edition of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD got access to a demo of the upcoming RPG, which received a noticeable update.
