It’s that time again for Final Fantasy XIV to preview its next major content patch. This time, it’s Patch 7.2 and it’s titled Seekers of Eternity. The details came from the latest Letter from the Producer LIVE broadcast, which announced that the patch will launch sometime in late March 2025. As usual, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida revealed what’s in development for the patch, which includes Cosmic Exploration for crafters and gatherers.

Longtime Final Fantasy XIV players know what to expect with these major patches, as we will receive new Main Scenario Quests, a new dungeon called The Underkeep, a new Cruiserweight raid tier for The Arcadion, a new Trial called Recollection (Normal and Extreme), and a new Unreal Trial for Hells’ Kier. As for Cosmic Exploration, it will enable crafters and gatherers to collaborate with other players from their World to explore the uncharted stars. A new planet to explore will be added in each of the remaining major patches of 7.x, and each planet starts as a blank slate that players will develop by completing missions and events. It will all start with building a base on the surface of the planet, and content can be completed collaboratively or solo. On paper, it seems more like Ishgard Restoration than Island Sanctuaries.

Patch 7.2 will also introduce a new large-scale battle-oriented duty called Occult Crescent. It’s located in the waters of Shades’ Triangle and is essentially the Eureka or Bozja equivalent for Dawntrail (review). There will be raid content for groups of up to 48 players, with a level 100 combat job requirement for entry. More excitingly, Occult Crescent introduces Phantom Jobs, allowing players to use unique jobs with new actions and abilities alongside their regular jobs. Some of the Phantom Jobs consist of staples from other Final Fantasy games: Geomancer, Ranger, Time Mage, Berserker, Chemist, and Cannoneer.

The new Allied Society quests will focus on the Mamool Ja for gathering classes, while Hildibrand fans can enjoy more Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures. What’s generating a lot of buzz in the community is that Patch 7.2 will also introduce a new Cornservant side quest! The team is also introducing Duty Support for The Sunken Temple of Qarn, and as expected, the new Allagan Tomestones of Mathematics will be added.

The Letter from the Producer LIVE also confirmed that Patch 7.18 launches on February 25, lifting the weekly tomestone restrictions and introducing a new camera emote created in collaboration with instax, the instant film camera from Fujifilm. For a limited time, there will also be a discount for active Final Fantasy XIV subscribers who sign up for Final Fantasy XI for the first time. That campaign will take place from February 12 at 8:00 am GMT to March 11 at 8:00 am GMT.
