Earlier this morning during Letter from the Producer Live Part LXXXIV, the Final Fantasy XIV team unveiled the official trailer for Patch 7.1, titled Crossroads. The patch launches on November 12, adding main scenario quests, a new Alliance Raid Dungeon titled Echoes of Vana’diel – Jeuno: The First Walk, the dungeon Yuweyawata Field Station, the trial The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden, The Jade Stoa (Unreal), and an update to the Hall of the Novice. Patch 7.11 arrives on November 26 with a new Ultimate Raid, Futures Rewritten, focusing on Ryne and Gaia’s story from the Shadowbringers raid tier.
On December 17, Patch 7.15 will introduce Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures, Custom Deliveries for Nitowikwe, and quests for Wachumeqimeqi. A week later, on December 24, players will get the first Chaotic Alliance Raid with Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic). This update will also introduce Allied Society Quests with the Pelupelu, updates to housing and Doman Mahjong, along with new PvP gear, mounts, minions, and emotes. Patch 7.16 arrives on January 21, adding new Role Quests. Players will also gain New Game+ support for Patch 7.0, allowing them to replay main scenario quests, job quests, and role quests. Halitali will also receive duty support.
The new 24-man Alliance Raid is a crossover with Final Fantasy XI, featuring Prishe, one of the main characters from the Chains of Promathia story and a representative of Final Fantasy XI in the Dissidia franchise.
Also announced during the stream was Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail – The Art of Succession – Relics of Heritage, a full-color art book available for preorder starting November 2. The team also announced a collaboration with Flibustier Paris, a family-owned jewelry brand, offering three bracelets that represent the game’s Grand Companies: The Maelstrom, The Order of the Twin Adder, and The Immortal Flames.
As a longtime player of Final Fantasy XIV, I found the Dawntrail expansion to be mostly what I expected after the outstanding Endwalker expansion, which wrapped up a major story arc. Dawntrail serves as a soft reset for the game’s storyline and main characters. While the story doesn’t reach the level of quality seen in Shadowbringers and Endwalker, the dungeons and fight designs have been excellent.
