Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn got off to a rough start, with server issues forcing Square Enix to halt digital sales as the company scrambled to upgrade server capacities. Despite having to halt sales and not resuming them for over two weeks, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn exceeded 1.5-million registered players within two months of its release, Square Enix has officially announced.
The combined total is across North America, Europe, Japan and PAL territories on both the PC and PlayStation 3 systems. Square Enix has also confirmed that Patch 2.1 is scheduled for release in December, though a new FATE featuring Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII will be added in November, to coincide with the launch of Lightning Returns.
Patch 2.1 will be adding features to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn such as housing and a new PvP arena called The Wolves’ Den. This past week, Square Enix finally launched its world transfer service to allow players to transfer to new servers.
