During the Journey to Dawntrail: The 10-Year Adventure of Final Fantasy XIV panel at PAX East 2024, Naoki Yoshida revealed that the next expansion will be released on June 28, 2024, for Early Access. The official public release date is July 2, 2024. Along with revealing the release date, Yoshida confirmed a Collector’s Edition will be available that includes a figure of the new Viper job, a map of the realm, a journal, and an adventurer’s pen case. Digital items included in the package are a new Ark mount, a wind-up Garnet minion, and a Chocobo Brush.
Like previous expansions, the wind-up minion indicates which Final Fantasy game that specific expansion will draw inspiration from. In the past, we’ve seen wind-up Fran (Final Fantasy XII) for Shadowbringers, while Endwalker’s Collector’s Edition had a wind-up Porom (Final Fantasy IV). If the new Viper job, clearly inspired by Zidane, wasn’t enough of a sign that Dawntrail will pay homage to Final Fantasy IX, the inclusion of the wind-up Garnet minion and the wind-up Zidane minion in the Collector’s Edition surely seals the deal.
Preorders will grant Early Access to the expansion along with the aforementioned wind-up Zidane minion and Azeyma’s Earrings. Yoshida also announced that the Final Fantasy XVI crossover event will take place from April 2, 2024, to May 8, 2024.
Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail is our most anticipated game of the year. We’re excited to see the direction Creative Business Unit III will take the MMORPG, especially now that the Hydaelyn and Zodiark story arc has concluded.
