Final Fantasy VI is heading to Steam on December 16 and appears to be based on the mobile release of the game. Outside of using emulators, this is the first time Final Fantasy VI is available on PC and is widely considered one of the best entries from the storied franchise.
Originally released in the U.S. as Final Fantasy III on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), it has been remade and re-released on PlayStation and Game Boy Advance in the past. It became available on Android devices in January 2014 before launching on Apple iOS the following month.

According to the Steam listing the game features updated controls and the active-time battle system has been optimized for fluid combat for PC. It will also include Steam achievements and Trading Cards.
The system requirements are pretty light with the minimum needing a Pentium 4 2.4 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and 950 MB of available space.
Pricing has not been revealed, but based on other Final Fantasy titles on Steam, it will likely be $15.99.
