The FFXIV world transfer service is finally live, allowing players to transfer their characters from one server to another. As we mentioned before, the FFXIV world transfer service will be free to players for the first five days and after that it will cost $18 per transfer. Each FFXIV world transfer service can move multiple characters from one server to another, so long as all the characters are originating from the same server and are all transferring to the same server. Otherwise, multiple transfers must be done if characters are going from one server to separate servers.

Currently, characters will be limited to transferring 1-million gil, while retainers will only be able to transfer 100,000 gil. The limitation is set in place to help curb gil farmers from being able to move their gil quickly from one server to another. Any gil exceeding the limit will be lost, and Square Enix has announced that it’ll monitor economic conditions and the limits could change later on.

There are other limitations in order to make sure your character is eligible, which you can see at the source link below. Essentially, you can’t have any items for sale on the market, can’t be in a free company, the character must be at least three days old and must be logged out of the game.
