The Lightning FATE event will be heading to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn this week, kicking off on November 14 12:00 AM PT and running until December 9 6:59 AM PT. The event is part of a cross-game promotion to support the launch of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII in Japan. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be heading to North America on February 14, 2014.
FFXIV players that participate in the Lightning FATE event will be rewarded with a Lightning costume for female characters, while male characters will get a Snow costume, as seen above. Players will also get vanity weapons such as the Blazefire Saber (Gladiator), Vega Knuckles (Pugilist), l’Cie Bardiche (Marauder), Bladed Lance (Lancer), Star Seeker (Archer), Binding Rod (Conjurer), Mog’s Staff (Thaumaturge) and Grimoire Wing (Arcanist).
The Lightning FATE event will be broken down into four chapters with the first one being released on November 14 at 12:00 AM PT. Chapter two will be released on November 16 at 12:00 AM PT while chapter three will join the game two days later on November 18 at the same time. The fourth and final chapter will be added on November 20 at 12:00 AM PT.
Chapter one is titled “For the Winsome” and requires level 12 or above and will launch at Peter Winsome in the Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks. Chapter two, titled “Seeking the Scoop” requires level 26 or above and begins with Dural Tharal at the Steps of Nald in Uldah. Chapter three is called “The Knight’s Passage” and requires level 38 or above and players can grab it from Kipih Jakkya in Old Gridania. Finally, the event will culminate with “Wonder and Lightning” and requires players to be level 45 or above. You will also be able to grab the quest from Kipih Jakkya in Old Gridania.
Previous chapters to the Lightning FATE event will remain open even as new chapters are unlocked.
And for those that might miss the event for whatever reason, Square Enix confirmed that it will make a return when Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is released in February 2014.
