The highly anticipated FFXIV 2.1 patch is on its way, and Square Enix has revealed more details on what’s to come. Along with the previous announcements of The Wolves’ Den PvP zone and the addition of housing, FFXIV 2.1 will bring about changes to end-game progression, including the cap for weekly Tomestones of Mythology being raised.
Currently, players have a weekly cap of 300 Tomestones of Mythology and FFXIV 2.1 will see that cap raised to about 450, allowing players to get more iLvl 90 gear, more quickly.
In addition, FFXIV 2.1 will provide additional ways for players to progress in the end game and acquire tomestones. Those new features include Beast Tribe Quests, Treasure Hunts, Duty Roulette, Pharos Sirius and two hard mode dungeons. Beast Tribe Quests will have players learn about the beast tribes in daily quests to acquire tomestones while Treasure Hunts adventurers searching for buried treasure with up to four players and obtaining crafted material, consumable items and tomestones. Duty Roulette will award bonus tomestones and experience for those that choose to take on a random duty.
FFXIV 2.1 will also add the Crystal Tower instance, a 24-man dungeon that will be rewarding iLvl 80 gear. As for Pharos Sirius, FFXIV players will explore an abandoned lighthouse to obtain new gear and tomestones. The 2.1 patch will also add the Aesthetician so players can change the look of their characters, including new hair styles. Those seeking even more of a challenge will love that FFXIV 2.1 will add Extreme Primal Battles and the Good King Moogle Mog fight.
Surprisingly, new main scenario quests will also be added to continue the Scion of the Seventh Dawn’s storyline along with new side quests to learn more about the people and cultures of Eorzea.
No official date for FFXIV 2.1 has been announced, but hopefully it is still on schedule for a December release.
