One of the surprises from The Game Awards 2024 last night was the announcement of Elden Ring: Nightreign. It’s a standalone title set in the Elden Ring universe, but it is a co-op game. Bandai Namco has now confirmed that a network test will come in February 2025, and registration to participate in the test starts on January 10, 2025. This event is a preliminary verification test in which selected testers can play a portion of the game prior to its full launch. It is essentially a stress test for the servers, and it will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game will eventually launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC at some point in 2025.
Some details about Nightreign have been released following its debut trailer last night. It is a multiplayer-focused game with three-player co-op and is set in a universe parallel to the events of Elden Ring. The game features eight unique characters, each with distinct abilities and powerful Ultimates. In Nightreign, players will venture to Limveld, an ever-changing map where a night cycle shrinks the play area, similar to experiences in Fortnite. Each session leads up to a third night, when players must face off against the chosen Nightlord.
While Nightreign supports single-player, the game appears to be designed for multiplayer. There also appears to be a roguelite component, as unsuccessful runs provide players with relics to customize and upgrade their characters.
