Electronic Arts made headlines last month after reaching an agreement to go private following a $55 billion buyout. While it remains to be seen what effect the buyout will have on the company, a recent announcement might be a sign of things to come. Yesterday, The Sims Mobile team confirmed the game will shut down on January 20, 2026, at 5:59 AM Pacific (8:59 AM Eastern). The game has existed for seven years and has received over 50 updates, but unfortunately, it has reached the end of the road.

From now until the game shuts down, events in The Sims Mobile will continue to run as usual, allowing players to earn Simoleons and items during the final months. Any purchases made before today will still work in the game until January 20, 2026. After that date, the game will no longer be playable, and any leftover currency will not be eligible for a refund. Since The Sims Mobile requires online servers to play, no one will be able to access the game after 5:59 AM Pacific on January 20, 2026.

The team rolled out the final update for The Sims Mobile today, which removes microtransactions from the game. In addition, everyone receives unlimited energy so they can make the most of the remaining time. Tomorrow, October 21, the game will be delisted from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store at 5:30 AM Pacific (8:30 AM Eastern). Once that happens, it will no longer be available for new downloads. Players who already have the game installed or previously downloaded it can still update or re-download it.

On January 6, two weeks before the game officially shuts down, all Build Mode and Create A Sim (CAS) items will unlock for every player. None of those items will be limited by levels, so everything will be available for all players. The team wants to give everyone the opportunity to build their dream home, design their perfect Sims, and experience everything The Sims Mobile has to offer before the servers officially close.

Here’s a list of all the events that are part of The Sims Mobile’s final update:

  • Eerie Autumn – Festival Pass (October 20 – December 19)
  • Cozier Home – Sweet Treat Showdown (October 20 – November 2)
