Techland has revealed more details on the story-based expansion heading to Dying Light sometime in the future. Titled The Following, the expansion will take place in a massive new area that’s as big as the original maps from Dying Light combined. Kyle Crane will head to a hazardous outback filled with mysterious and fanatical cultists whose beliefs have connections to the zombie outbreak.
In order to learn the cult’s secrets, players will have to earn the trust of the locals in the outback. That also means that players will have a bit of freedom in The Following, choosing their own patch by completing various missions and tasks while infiltrating the inner circle of the cultists.

Perhaps most exciting for players is the addition of fully customizable and upgradable dirt buggies. The dirt buggies will have their own unique skill tree and players will be able to travel through the vast expanse Harran countryside in what will be their deadliest weapon yet.
“Gamescom 2015 was our first chance to let people play Dying Light: The Following so I was a bit nervous,” admits producer Tymon Smektała. “But so many positive reactions really showed me we made the right decision to work on this expansion. With its new map and far-reaching gameplay additions, it feels like we’ve hit the sweet spot for what players are expecting from us.”
No release date has been announced for the expansion but Techland has confirmed its standalone price will be $14.99 but Season Pass holders will get it as part of the Season Pass.
