The newest trailer for Doom has arrived along with a release date announcement. The all-new first-person shooter from id Software will head to the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One starting Friday, May 13. Players will once again take on the role of the iconic Doom marine as they wake to learn that the Union Aerospace Corporation’s facility on Mars has been decimated and overrun by hordes of demons. Yep, that’s Doom alright.
Fans of the classic Doom and Doom 2 games will be happy to hear that the new game’s campaign won’t feature places to take cover or the ability to stop to regenerate health. Instead, you will have to combine your arsenal of futuristic and iconic guns, upgrades, movement and an advanced melee system to knock down, slash, stomp, crush and blow apart demons in creative and violent ways.

The latest entry to the series looks to return to its roots of fast-paced, in-your-face action unlike Doom 3, which was more of a survival horror game. Those that created custom .WADs in the classic games will be excited to take SnapMap for a spin, the community tool that allows players to create their own multiplayer maps.
