Activision Blizzard revealed that Diablo III has now sold through over 30-million units globally since its release on May 15, 2012 today during its second quarter 2015 earnings call. It’s unclear whether those sales figures include sales of the game’s expansion, Reaper of Souls, or whether that’s just Diablo III sales alone. The company also announced that World of Warcraft subscribers is down to 5.6 million, down 1.5 million from the first quarter earnings call when World of Warcraft had 7.1M subscribers.

The company noted that the subscriber base for World of Warcraft was down in the east and attributed it partly due to the release of Diablo III. Blizzard remains optimistic that this week’s expansion announcement will get players excited, while the upcoming Warcraft movie will be a chance to expose the game’s lore to new audiences and hopefully increase interest in World of Warcraft.

As for other Activision Blizzard properties, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm and Destiny have over 70-million registered players combined. Hearthstone engagement nearly doubled year-over-year, largely due to new content as well as the game’s release on mobile platforms.

Blizzard will announce a new World of Warcraft expansion at Gamescom 2015, hosting a live stream of the unveiling on August 6, 2015 at 9:00 AM PT.
