While the majority of PC gamers prefer Steam over the Epic Games Store, competition is good, and the Epic Games Store is making it even more enticing for developers starting in June. The company has announced that effective next month, for any Epic Games Store payments that are processed, developers will pay absolutely no revenue share on their first $1 million in revenue per app per year. After that, the regular 88%/12% revenue split comes into effect. The team is also releasing a new feature that enables developers to launch their own webshops hosted by Epic Games Store. These shops will support out-of-app purchases as a more cost-effective alternative to in-app purchases. This is clearly Epic’s way of fighting against Apple and Google’s cut in fees. As an added bonus, players who spend in Epic Webshops will get 5% Epic Rewards on all their purchases.

Epic Games has long been fighting Google and Apple over their app store policies and the fees they charge developers for in-app purchases. Regardless of what you may think of Epic Games Store, the company has done a respectable job fighting on behalf of developers.
