Originally announced in September with a February 5, 2026 release date, Deus Ex Remastered has been delayed indefinitely and all existing preorders will be fully refunded. The announcement comes from developer Aspyr, which said the delay was necessary in order to better meet fan expectations and deliver the best possible experience for players. After the game’s debut, fans criticized its visual style, with words like “awful” being tossed around. Clearly, Aspyr saw the feedback, causing it to go back to the drawing board on how it’s going to approach this remaster.

Honestly, it’s a bit surprising because Aspyr has done well with its remasters for the most part. From Star Wars: Bounty Hunter to Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2 and, more recently, Tomb Raider, it almost seemed like the company knew how to handle these classic games. We’ll have to see what comes from this delay since Deus Ex is definitely a game that deserves to be properly remastered and playable on current-gen platforms. Whenever it does release, it’ll be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC.
