After launching on PlayStation 5 last June, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is now available on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Kojima Productions partnered with Nixxes Software on the port, and based on the PC specs shared earlier this month, it should scale well across a range of hardware.

The PC version comes with a few extras beyond the base game. A new difficulty option called “to the wilder” mode offers a punishing challenge for players who want to test their porter skills in merciless environments with deadly enemies. There’s also a new VR training area called “Trapped in a Strange Realm,” where players can relive Sam’s confrontations with Neil and unlock new bandanas. The Chiral Feline makes an appearance in the private room aboard the DHV Magellan and has been added to Photo Mode.

On the technical side, the PC version supports NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS for upscaling and frame generation, along with uncapped frame rates, customizable graphics settings, and ray tracing options for reflections and ambient occlusion on high-end hardware. Super-ultrawide (32:9) support is available for gameplay, with standard ultrawide (21:9) for cutscenes. Players who link their PlayStation account can earn PlayStation Trophies and receive exclusive in-game patches.

I reviewed Death Stranding 2 on PlayStation 5 and came away feeling mixed. While it’s undeniably a spectacle and anyone who enjoyed the first game will have a great time, I felt the sequel gave up some of what made the original so unique. That said, it’s still one of the most interesting games I’ve played, and the PC version’s additional difficulty mode and technical features give players who skipped the PlayStation 5 release a reason to jump in. Both Standard and Digital Deluxe editions are available now.
