Currently my most anticipated game of 2025, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has revealed its cast and it’s packed with familiar names from both the gaming and entertainment industries. Final Fantasy XVI players have already noticed that the voice of Clive, Ben Starr, has a role in the game, and it has been revealed that he voices Verso. He’s a mysterious and dangerous stranger who is tracking the Expedition’s every move. Joining Starr on the roster are Charlie Cox, Jennifer English, Kirsty Rider, Shala Nyx, and Andy Serkis.

Cox, who is known for his recent role as Daredevil, is voicing Gustave, a resourceful engineer that is motivated to defeat the Paintress to reclaim a future for Lumière’s children. He’ll be joined by Maelle, Jennifer English’s character, who is a shy loner. Maelle looks to the expedition as an opportunity to explore the world outside of Lumière. You may recognize English as the wonderful voice behind Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3. The voice of Kuroki from Sifu, Kirsty Rider, is playing the brilliant scholar and mage Lune. She’s the daughter of renowned researchers and has sacrificed everything to continue their work.

Taking on the role of Sciel is Shala Nyx, who recently played Farida Nazeri in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Sciel is a calm yet cheerful warrior turned farmer and teacher. Although she embraces each day with joy, she’s just masking the pain of a tragic past. Finally, Andy Serkis needs no introduction as the voice actor behind Gollum (The Lord of the Rings), Snoke (Star Wars), and Caesar (Planet of the Apes), among others. Serkis will bring his talents to Renoir, a man driven by ruthless determination. He’s singularly focused on saving his family, but underneath, he’s dealing with agonizing loss.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 originally made its debut during Xbox’s Summer Showcase, an RPG that’s heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in Spring 2025. It will be a day one Game Pass release, telling the story of Expedition 33 as they embark on a quest to end the Paintress’s reign of death. The game claims to be an evolution of JRPGs, mixing real-time actions with turn-based combat. The game is looking better and better with each trailer, and you can see the latest one below.
