Amid rumors and speculation that Borderlands 4 would cost $79.99, preorders for the upcoming looter shooter are now available starting at $69.99. Borderlands 4 will initially launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on September 12, but will also be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2 later in the year. We’ll also learn more about the game at an upcoming Borderlands Fan Fest livestream on June 21, starting at 12:30 PM Pacific (3:30 PM Eastern).

The Borderlands 4 Standard Edition includes the full base game, and those who preorder will receive the Gilded Glory Pack, which includes one Vault Hunter Skin, one Weapon Skin, and one Echo-4 Drone Skin. The Borderlands 4 Deluxe Edition costs $99.99 and includes the full base game, the Gilded Glory Pack as a preorder bonus, the Firehawk’s Fury Weapon Skin, and the Bounty Pack Bundle, which is post-launch content. The Bounty Pack Bundle includes four unique areas with new missions and unique bosses, four Vault Cards with unique challenges and rewards, new gear and weapons, new Vault Hunter cosmetics, and four new vehicles with new cosmetics.

For the true fans of the series, the Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition will cost $129.99 and includes all the previously mentioned items, along with the Ornate Order Pack and the Vault Hunter Pack. The Ornate Order Pack adds four Vault Hunter Skins, four Vault Hunter Heads, and four Vault Hunter Bodies, while the Vault Hunter Pack includes two new playable Vault Hunters, two new Story Packs with all new story and side missions, two new map regions, new gear and weapons, new Vault Hunter cosmetics, and new Echo-4 cosmetics.

If you’ve been following the Borderlands franchise, you’ll know Gearbox and 2K have a way with DLC. It seems like it’ll be even more complicated and frustrating with Borderlands 4, with Story Packs and Bounty Packs. The Story Packs are the DLC content we’re used to, with new Vault Hunters and story content, while Bounty Packs are just new areas with missions and a unique boss fight.

We’re cautiously optimistic about Borderlands 4, following our disappointment with Borderlands 3. We’re hoping the series can go back to at least mediocre writing, because its gameplay remains fantastic. Unfortunately, the characters and story in Borderlands 3 were so poorly done; they basically ruined the gameplay experience for us.
