Originally set to launch on September 23, Borderlands 4 has moved its release date up to September 12. Considering Take-Two Interactive owns both Gearbox Software and Rockstar Games, Borderlands 4 moving up its release date suggests it’s making room for Grand Theft Auto VI. It’s not exactly confirmation, but it’s a strong enough hint as to when Grand Theft Auto VI is looking to launch, since we already know it’s coming this fall.
In addition to announcing a new release date, Gearbox confirmed a Borderlands 4 State of Play broadcast for tomorrow, April 30, at 2:00 PM Pacific (5:00 PM Eastern). The team will deliver over 20 minutes of developer insights with nitty-gritty details about how players will be wreaking havoc across Kairos later this year. The State of Play will feature Graeme Timmins, Creative Director at Gearbox Software, along with Anthony Nicholson, Senior Project Producer. They’ll give us our first real look at gameplay, missions, weapons, Action Skills, new and returning characters, and more.
Borderlands 4 is one of our most anticipated games of the year, even though we were pretty disappointed with Borderlands 3. The looter shooter franchise is still one of the best in the genre when it comes to gameplay, but hopefully Borderlands 4 manages to offer better writing and characters this time around.
