Founders of Red Octane and brothers behind Guitar Hero, Kai and Charles Huang, have teamed up with Coleman Fung, founder of OpenLink, to launch a new interactive fitness company called Blue Goji. The company will focus on making fitness fun by transforming the cardio exercise experience through immersive gameplay, tracking activity towards personal fitness goals, and creating a social workout experience with friends. In other words, it’ll build on the popular Wii Fit model but geared towards mobile users.
According to the company, the Blue Goji platform will take advantage of tablets and smartphones to make cardio exercise routines “an entertaining and rewarding experience.” The company’s platform of content and products will work with tablets and smartphones on various cardio equipment and is currently undergoing private testing. Blue Goji will reveal more information on its website in the coming months.
“Our goal is to help people lead healthier and more active lives by providing anyone across all fitness levels with a fun way to work out, one that is accessible and compelling to use,” said Kai Huang, Blue Goji co-founder and CEO. “With Blue Goji, we’re developing a platform to support a variety of entertainment content that enables people to immerse themselves in their workout routines for a more enjoyable and social experience.”
