Some gamers that chose to pre order Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX at Best Buy had a disappointing day. The 24-page hardcover, limited edition art book was not included at numerous Best Buy locations and the company is making no effort to help resolve the issue. In fact, one customer service representative told us to contact Disney Interactive in order to get the book.
Recently, Best Buy has tried really hard to step up their video game support in-store and online. And given that pre-order bonuses help persuade consumers to shop at certain places, not fulfilling the bonus at all is a major disappointment. As expected, Best Buy employees were clueless as to what the pre-order bonus was, nor did they care to offer any assistance. Reports on Best Buy’s own forums from disappointed customers are receiving generic responses.
Even worse, Best Buy’s website is still reporting that you can pre-order the game to receive the 24-page hardcover book, and that the limited edition is still in stock through their store online only. But when we spoke to a supervisor, they stated that if we were to place an order immediately, we would not receive the book.
At the end of the day, it’s only a 24-page hardcover art book, but for some fans, they’re disappointed because they chose to shop at Best Buy and now won’t even have the opportunity to get a copy of the book. Other retailers such as Amazon.com is reporting that the limited edition copy is no longer available.
As for us, we’re pretty disappointed that we didn’t get our pre-order bonus and will be sticking with more reputable outlets such as Amazon.com from here on out.
Updated: After dozens of people reached out to us with the same problem, we decided to get in contact with Best Buy corporate to figure out what was going on. In Best Buy’s system, both the pre-order Limited Edition copy of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and the standard copy of the game have the same SKUs. The employees just do not know any better and hand you the standard copy of the game. In their system, there’s nothing different about the two. So if you pre ordered a copy of the game and got the wrong one, go back to your store and explain to them that they’re the same SKUs and that you should be receiving a box, rather than a standard PlayStation 3 game case.
