Gamers on Xbox Series X|S eagerly anticipating Baldur’s Gate 3 can expect the release date to be announced soon. Larian Studios will reveal the exact release date at The Game Awards 2023 on December 8, confirming the game’s scheduled launch in December. Launched in August on PC before heading to PlayStation 5 in September, Baldur’s Gate 3 missed the Xbox release due to technical issues with split-screen co-op.

In August, Larian Studios confirmed that after speaking with Xbox’s Phil Spencer, they found a solution that would bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox players in 2023. That solution is to temporarily drop split-screen co-op on the Xbox Series S until a later date, so Xbox players can enjoy what is one of the best games of the year.

At this year’s Golden Joystick Awards, Larian Studios and Baldur’s Gate 3 won seven awards, including Ultimate Game of the Year. It’s nominated across eight categories for The Game Awards 2023.

In my Baldur’s Gate 3 review, I found the game to be a “deep, sprawling, and complex RPG that’s as captivating as it is memorable.” It did, however, have its fair share of bugs and performance issues at launch on PC. Since then, Larian Studios have pushed out multiple patches featuring thousands of fixes and optimizations to improve on the game.
