Baldur’s Gate 3, one of the best games I’ve ever played, continues to get even better. Larian Studios has revealed what’s coming in Patch 8, including cross-play, a photo mode, and 12 new subclasses. Cross-play has been an eagerly anticipated feature, and it’ll also feature full cross-platform progression. This means players can invite their friends to join, regardless of platform.
It’s the perfect time to set off on a new journey, as Patch 8 will add one new subclass for each of the existing classes in the game: Bard, Barbarian, Cleric, Druid, Paladin, Fighter, Monk, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Warlock, and Wizard. Each subclass adds new abilities, animations, visual effects, summons, and cantrips. Here’s a list of the new subclass for each class:
- Bard – College of Glamour
- Barbarian – Path of Giants
- Cleric – Death Domain
- Druid – Circle of Stars
- Paladin – Oath of the Crown
- Fighter – Arcane Archer
- Monk – Drunken Master
- Ranger – Swarmkeeper
- Rogue – Swashbuckler
- Sorcerer – Shadow Magic
- Warlock – Hexblade
- Wizard – Bladesinging

The final major feature joining the game in Patch 8 is a Photo Mode, and it’s a robust addition. The team showed off some of the controls players will have, including individual settings for camera, lens, and scene. There is also a collection of post-processing effects to enhance your photos, along with various frames and over 300 stickers to choose from. Unfortunately, you can only add up to 30 stickers to your scene, but that should be sufficient.
The team plans to stress test Patch 8 in early January, giving players the opportunity to register their interest beforehand. Watch for a Community Update for more details if you’re interested.
