It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, but the game hasn’t been abandoned. In fact, it’s readying a new expansion called From the Ashes, set to launch on December 19, 2025, the same day Avatar: Fire & Ash arrives in theaters. The DLC takes place shortly after the events of the main game and will take players on the journey of So’lek, a battle-hardened Na’vi warrior from the Trr’ong clan. The story begins as So’lek awakens to a world in flames, with his Sarentu family scattered. Fueled by grief and vengeance, he sets out to reunite with and protect his loved ones after being ambushed and left for dead by the RDA and their new allies, the Ash clan.
According to Omar Bouali, creative director at Massive Entertainment, From the Ashes aims to deliver a darker, more personal story. “We wanted to offer fans a thrilling new perspective on the Western Frontier, with deeper storytelling and more visceral gameplay.” Expect new combat mechanics with the expansion, while the previously announced third-person perspective and New Game+ will arrive as a free update on December 5.
From the Ashes will cost $24.99 for players who already own the base game, while a new Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes Edition will be available for $39.99 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. That edition includes the full game, the story expansion, and Floating Mountains Bonus Content (three banshee color patterns).
