The Assassin’s Creed franchise is heading to feudal Japan for the first time with Assassin’s Creed Shadows, arriving on November 15. Previously known as Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Mac, PC, and Amazon Luna. Set in the late Sengoku period, players can choose from two protagonists: Naoe, a shinobi Assassin from Iga Province, or Yasuke, the powerful African samurai of historical legend. While this isn’t the first time an Assassin’s Creed game has offered dual protagonists, the options in Assassin’s Creed Shadows will provide different playstyles and stories.
Today’s official cinematic world premiere trailer introduces Naoe and Yasuke, giving us our first look at the world Ubisoft is creating. We expect gameplay to be shown at Ubisoft Forward in June as part of this year’s summer gaming showcases.
Despite not revealing gameplay, Ubisoft announced preorders and all the game’s various editions. The Standard Edition ($69.99 USD) includes the base game and a preorder bonus in the form of a quest, Thrown to the Dogs. The Gold Edition ($109.99 USD) includes the base game, preorder bonus, season pass, and three days of early access. The season pass includes a bonus quest on day one, additional unlockable content, and two upcoming expansions. The Ultimate Edition ($129.99 USD) includes all the items in the Gold Edition and adds the Ultimate Pack, which contains gear and weapon sets for both characters, unique ornaments, five skill points, and the Red Dragon filter in Photo Mode.
For die-hard Assassin’s Creed fans, there’s a Collector’s Edition ($279.99 USD) exclusive to GameStop. It includes the Ultimate Edition of the game, along with the following physical items:
