War of the Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius will reach the end of service on May 29, 2025, at 11:59 PM Pacific, as announced by Square Enix. The news comes exactly five years to the date the game launched on March 25, 2020, and is yet another Square Enix mobile game that has recently met its demise, joining Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia and NieR Re[in]carnation in 2024. Like the other games, War of the Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius likely wasn’t generating enough revenue to justify keeping it online.

The notice had a fairly standard message regarding the shutdown: “Since War of the Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius’s launch on 3/25/2020, we’ve strived to provide an enjoyable gaming experience for our players every day that could exceed the day before. However, we’ve come to the conclusion that it would be difficult to maintain a satisfactory app experience, and therefore to discontinue the app service.”

Although I am a huge Final Fantasy Tactics fan and was very excited about War of the Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, I couldn’t get into the game even after playing it for a few days. Honestly, I’m surprised it lasted five years, considering NieR Re[in]carnation didn’t live to see its third birthday. We can’t help but wonder if Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis will make it until the third and final game of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy releases.
