Free-to-play creature-catching RPG Aniimo is expanding its platform lineup. Developer Pawprint Studio announced that Aniimo will launch on PlayStation 5 and the Epic Games Store alongside previously confirmed platforms Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Xbox, and mobile. The game is still targeting a 2026 release, and wishlisting is available now across all console and PC storefronts.
Aniimo is an open-world RPG where players explore a world called Idyll, catching and bonding with creatures called Aniimo to discover their unique skills. If you’re thinking this sounds like it’s chasing the Pokémon crowd, you’re not wrong, but the free-to-play model and open-world structure could help it carve out its own space, especially on platforms where Pokémon doesn’t exist. The game recently wrapped up its second closed beta, and Pawprint Studio says more beta opportunities are on the way.
Those attending PAX East in Boston later this week can go hands-on with Aniimo at Booth #16055. The demo features the latest build, which introduces Hoptail, a new Aniimo that stores electrical energy in its tail and can trigger explosive leaps (sound familiar?). Players can explore Idyll’s open world, check out the RV and Homeland features, and get a feel for the creature-catching loop.
