The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 continues to be scarce, and for some, the best way to get their hands on RTX 5090 performance is by purchasing a prebuilt PC with one. Alienware has finally added the RTX 5090 as an option to its Area-51 Gaming Desktop and it doesn’t come cheap. The default configuration starts at $5,499.99 and that includes an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor with a 360mm liquid cooler, 32GB of DDR5-6400 RAM, a 2TB NVMe M.2 Gen4 SSD, and a 1500W Platinum Rated PSU. This setup comes with Windows 11 Home, but Windows 11 Pro is available with a $60 upgrade.

Surprisingly, there aren’t very many hardware upgrades available for the Area-51 configuration with the RTX 5090. The only option we have is to upgrade from 32GB of RAM to 64GB of DDR5-6400 RAM for an extra $200. Currently, Alienware doesn’t offer a choice to upgrade the 2TB SSD to a 4TB SSD. So really, you’re going to be spending either $5,499.99 or $5,699.99 unless you want Windows 11 Pro for an additional $60.

For 2025, Alienware reintroduced the Area-51 back to its desktop PC lineup. The Area-51 dates back to 1998, but obviously it’s evolved significantly since then. The desktop is a full-size 80L tower and provides room to maximize airflow while maintaining low noise levels. It features an all-new positive pressure airflow system with three different fan sizes that all point inward toward the chassis to pull in cool air from outside the case. Instead of having exhaust fans, the chassis creates a seal to prevent leakage, building positive pressure that expels heated air out the back with a passive pressurized exhaust. It’s an interesting design, to say the least, as Alienware claims that the positive pressure moves 25 percent more air through the chassis, allowing the Area-51 to run up to 13 percent cooler and 45 percent quieter during intensive tasks.

If you’re impatient for an RTX 5090 gaming rig, this is one of your best bets, but it also comes at a price. At the time of publishing, Alienware is giving us an April 15 to April 18 delivery date, so it does appear these are ready to ship.
